There are a lot of common misconceptions in the world because of the "traditions of men that make the word of God without effect". None of the English versions of the bible are totally accurate. If you can find an older copy of the King James version Bible you may find a lengthy disclaimer by the original transcribers. You should use the Greek and Hebrew dictionaries to find out the truth for yourself! The Hebrews had many colorful expressions that are easily misinterpreted without a deeper study to discover the context that qualifies the expression. Please note that this web site uses Blue Letter Bible classic for word searches and Strongs' dictionary. There are better versions available for more accurate studies.
